CNC Bending

160-tonne CNC press brake bending. Add bends to any laser-cut blank — ±1° angular tolerance, up to 3000 mm bending length.

Precision CNC Press Brake Bending

CNC press brake bending forms sheet metal by pressing it between a punch and die. The CNC backstop positions the sheet precisely, and a depth-controlled ram bends to the programmed angle. FYORD uses Amada and Trumpf press brakes with automatic angle correction — what you specify is what you get.

Bending is typically added to laser-cut or waterjet-cut blanks in the same order, saving time and freight. Our team programs bending sequences to avoid tool collisions on complex formed parts.

  • Bending length up to 3000 mm in a single hit
  • Angular tolerance ±1° standard, ±0.5° on request
  • Tonnage up to 160 T — bends heavy plate too
  • Supports U-bends, Z-bends, offset bends, and hems
  • Combine with laser cutting in a single order

Flat Pattern Rules for CNC Bending

Design the flat pattern correctly and your bent part will hit all tolerances first time.

📏 Minimum Flange Length

Minimum flange = 3× material thickness. For 3 mm sheet, minimum flange = 9 mm. Shorter flanges cannot be gripped by the die and may slip during bending.

🕳️ Holes Near Bends

Keep holes at least 2× material thickness + bend radius away from the bend line. Holes too close distort during bending. If unavoidable, place the hole after bending.

📐 Bend Allowance

FYORD calculates flat-pattern bend allowance automatically using K-factor: 0.33 for MS, 0.38 for Al, 0.4 for SS. Upload the 3D folded model — we unfold it for cutting.

🔲 Relief Cuts

Add rectangular relief notches at the ends of each bend line when the bend intersects another flange. Relief size = 2× material thickness × 2× material thickness minimum.

📋 Bending Sequence

Complex parts may need bends in a specific order to avoid tool collisions. Our engineers plan the sequence — just provide the 3D model and we'll handle it.

📁 File Formats

Upload a STEP or DXF flat pattern. Alternatively, upload the 3D folded model in STEP format and we will unfold it. Always include a PDF drawing showing all bend angles.

💡 Pro tip: Order laser cutting + bending together. We machine both on the same job card, saving 1–2 days of lead time and inter-factory freight.
